Asta is the Allen Institute for AI (Ai2)'s agentic platform for scientific work. It combines literature understanding and data-driven discovery over 108M+ abstracts and 12M+ full-text papers, helping researchers find relevant papers, synthesize evidence into cited reports, and analyze research datasets.
Every output is cited and traceable to its sources, designed for reproducibility and peer-review-level rigor. The Generate a report feature offers two modes: Fast mode, powered by Ai2's open AstaBrief 8B model, and a Claude-powered Thinking mode for deeper multi-step synthesis.
Asta is free to use with no paid tiers announced. Uploaded datasets are never used for model training and are automatically purged 7 days after upload.
