What it is
Claude is Anthropic's conversational AI assistant, available at claude.ai and through apps for web, iOS, Android, and desktop. It helps with writing, coding, data analysis, research, and everyday questions, and Anthropic trains it with Constitutional AI to be safe, accurate, and secure.
Why it matters
Unlike a bare model API, Claude ships as a finished workspace: chats can grow into Projects, files and code execution are built in, and web search plus a dedicated Research mode ground answers in current information. Claude Haiku 5.5 (released October 7, 2026) is available across Claude's Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans, so even free users get the fastest small model Anthropic has shipped.

Every plan has limits that reset on a rolling five-hour session window, and paid plans add weekly limits on top. Free covers everyday questions; you can wait for a reset, upgrade, or turn on usage credits on paid plans when you hit a limit.
What does Claude Enterprise cost?
