What is ESP-Mosaico?
A modular development board built for agents.
ESP-Mosaico by Espressif is a modular development board built for coding agents, taking AI agents beyond software and into the physical world.
Chat Coding lets you describe what you want in natural language while ESP-Claw, the built-in on-device AI agent framework, generates and runs the application. Vibe Coding pairs a desktop AI coding agent (Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode) over USB for a full code, deploy, test, observe and iterate loop. Plug-in camera, audio, sensor and control modules attach via dual 20-pin expansion interfaces, and multiple Mosaico devices combine magnetically for multi-device interaction. The ESP32-S31 core offers dual-core RISC-V up to 320 MHz, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, Thread 1.4, Zigbee 3.0, a 480x480 AMOLED touch display and 128 MB flash, with fully open-source factory firmware on GitHub.
The Vision Combo Kit (Core Unit v1.2 + Camera Module + Interaction Module) costs $59.00 as a one-time hardware purchase, currently in pre-order with shipping in about 15 days. A clip-on battery module is available separately.

Common questions
ESP-Mosaico FAQs
How long does the battery last?
The built-in 65 mAh battery lasts about 15 minutes with the screen on, 10 with Wi-Fi, 5 with the camera. A ~1000 mAh clip-on battery module is available.
Can I change the LLM?
Yes. The factory firmware is fully open source and works with ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek and self-hosted model services; the on-device agent talks to the model service you configure.
Which slots do the modules fit?
All modules except the camera fit either slot; the camera module only fits the left slot. Modules support hot insertion but not hot removal.
What is the enclosure made of?
The current enclosure is resin 3D-printed, with open STL files for custom prints; an injection-molded version is planned.
What are the order terms?
Pre-orders ship in about 15 days. Full refund or address changes are possible before shipping; after shipping, orders cannot be cancelled, and unopened returns are accepted within 14 days.
