What is Orisift?
One API to check phones, email domains, IPs and domains
Orisift is a developer API for checking the contact and network data that signup, lead and booking forms collect. One endpoint, POST /v1/lookup, takes a phone number, an email address, an IP address or a domain and returns one of four verdicts (verified, risky, rejected or insufficient_evidence) together with the evidence behind it, so your code can decide what to do instead of trusting a yes/no.
Phone checks cover format, the numbering plan and ranges regulators reserve for fiction, such as 555-0100 to 555-0199 in any North American area code and London 020 7946 0xxx. A national number sent without a country comes back as insufficient_evidence rather than a guess.
Email checks look at the domain, not the mailbox: MX, Null MX and DNS, plus a match against a list of 8,986 known throwaway-provider domains. Alias relays are kept separate from throwaway inboxes where classified. A DNS timeout or SERVFAIL is treated as inconclusive; NXDOMAIN is treated as evidence.
IP checks flag special-purpose, bogon and reserved ranges and read reverse DNS. Domain checks read A, MX, NS, SPF and DMARC records.
