What is Folklore MCP?
Read-only public variant and gene evidence for MCP-compatible AI clients.
Folklore MCP 1.7.0 connects MCP-compatible AI clients to 11 read-only tools for public germline variant evidence, gene profiles, gene-disease associations and literature. Responses include source provenance for review.
The public Streamable HTTP endpoint is https://api.helena.bio/folklore/v1/mcp. It is free to access and needs no account or API key. The interface is a tool and evidence layer; it does not run an autonomous AI agent or require a server-side LLM.
The supported variant scope is public GRCh38 nuclear germline SNVs and simple indels under 50 bp. It does not accept patient files, private case information or batch VCF uploads. Outputs require qualified professional review and are not diagnoses or treatment recommendations.
