What is Muse?
Muse is Meta's personal AI agent, launched in September 2026 and powered by Muse Spark — a model built for agentic work. Unlike chatbots that only answer questions, Muse plans and completes multi-step tasks on your behalf.
How it works
Tell Muse a goal in plain language — in the web app, on iOS or Android, in the Mac app, or directly inside WhatsApp. Connect the apps you already use: email, calendar, payments, health and fitness, shopping, dining, smart-home devices, and Instagram. Muse then makes a plan, works through the steps, and comes back to you when it needs a decision. It keeps working in the background even after you close the app.
Typical tasks include sending emails, booking travel, filling out forms, managing schedules, turning recipes into grocery lists, sending invitations, and making purchases at checkout.
What makes it different
- Its own secure computer. Every Muse agent runs in an isolated, persistent Linux VM with a full browser (Muse Secure VM), so it can do real work — not just chat.
- Designed for trust. Muse asks for approval before sensitive actions like sending emails or making purchases, and shows a full audit trail of everything it has done and plans to do.
- Your credentials stay hidden. Logins are stored in a secure vault the agent cannot see; checkout uses one-time card numbers so your real card stays hidden from the merchant and the agent. Conversations are not shared with Meta's ad systems.
- Proactive, not reactive. Muse tracks your long-term goals, stays on top of things, and returns with ideas built around what you actually need. If a task needs a tool that doesn't exist, it builds one.
Limitations to know
- Available in the United States only at launch, for users 18 and older.
- The free tier is metered; paid plans (Power $20/month, Maximum $100/month) add more usage. Detailed per-plan limits have not been published.

Muse is the most capable personal AI agent I've tried. It actually completes multi-step tasks across my apps — booking travel, sending emails, shopping — instead of just chatting about them. The approval flow before sensitive actions and the full audit trail make it feel trustworthy enough to hand real errands to. The WhatsApp integration is a killer touch: no new app to learn.
