1 / 3Overview
What is Siri?
Truly helpful AI that's centered around you and your needs — integrated into your apps, grounded in your context, and private at every step.
What it is
Siri is Apple's built-in AI voice assistant, now rebuilt as Siri AI on Apple Intelligence. It holds natural conversations by voice or text, understands personal context, and takes action across Apple's apps and devices.
What it can do
- Ask questions and get in-depth answers, including web-grounded knowledge (e.g. nearby hiking trails matched to your level)
- Act across apps: draft messages, set reminders, control music playback, and more
- Create Shortcuts by describing what you want in plain words
- Ask about what's on screen or in the camera frame with visual intelligence
- Control your smart home through the Home app, HomePod, and Apple TV 4K
- Handle messages, navigation, and music hands-free in CarPlay
Privacy
Apple says Siri AI processes as much as possible on-device and uses Private Cloud Compute for heavier requests: data is used only for your request, never stored, and not accessible to Apple or anyone else.
Pricing and availability
Siri is free and pre-installed on Apple devices. Apple notes that features relying on server-side models (including Siri AI) are subject to daily usage limits, with paid expanded access planned for the future. Siri AI is currently in beta on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and visionOS 27, requires an Apple Intelligence–enabled device set to a supported language, launches in English first, and is not initially available in the EU on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch.
