What is SpriteCanvas?
Turn a text prompt or reference image into a game character, generate walk, run and attack animations, and export transparent sprite sheets for your engine.
What SpriteCanvas does
SpriteCanvas is an AI sprite sheet generator built for indie 2D game developers who need characters and animations without drawing every frame by hand.
Start from a text prompt or a reference image. SpriteCanvas proposes several character candidates; keep the one you like and it becomes the base for everything that follows. Generate built-in actions (idle, walk, run, jump, attack, hurt, death), follow one of 12 ready-made moves from the motion library, or describe a custom move, and extend clips when an action needs more time. Matching item sets, effects and scene pieces keep the same look as the character.
Each animation is processed for game use: transparent background, consistent scale, a shared foot baseline and an adjustable frame count. Export sprite sheets with a JSON atlas (tested with Phaser and PixiJS), single frames, GIF or a ZIP with everything. A workbench lets you compare takes, change the look and re-time frames before exporting.
Free browser tools sit next to the generator: a sprite sheet slicer, GIF to sprite sheet, sprite sheet to GIF and video to sprite sheet converters, plus CC0 sprite packs to download.
Pricing is pay-as-you-go: every account gets free credits each day, credit packs start at $5 and never expire, and monthly plans start at $12. Each task shows its credit price before it runs, and failed tasks refund their credits.
